DR & AJU Launches Public Sector Relations Group
In March, DR & AJU launched the Public Sector Relations Group by expanding and reorganizing the existing Legislation & Government Relations Consulting Center, aiming to better support companies in navigating rising legislative developments and unstable policy environments both at home and abroad.
Comprising approximately 30 experts, the Public Sector Relations Group is the largest of its kind among Korean law firms. With deep expertise, robust networks across government and industry, and extensive policy advisory experience, the Group delivers tailored solutions to complex strategic and regulatory challenges.
The Group, led by Managing Partner Joo Hyae JUN, who served in the 21st National Assembly, and Partner Ho Chang SONG, Director of the U.S. Strategy Division and a former member of the 19th National Assembly, consists of three specialized units: the U.S. Strategy Division, the Legislation Office, and the Government Relations Office.
The U.S. Strategy Division, working in close coordination with the Washington Office, gathers critical intelligence from the White House and both chambers of Congress to develop actionable strategies for Korean companies. Amid the unprecedented challenges faced by Korean companies in the era of Trump’s second term, the Division offers tailored solutions for businesses seeking a reliable local network in the U.S.
The Legislation Office provides step-by-step legislative advisory services, from bill analysis and drafting to introduction and passage through the Standing Committee, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and the plenary session. It also offers tailored advice to companies during the National Assembly’s audit season, identifying relevant risks and proposing practical solutions.
The Office is led by Director Gi Won KWON, who formerly served as Chief Expert to the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee and the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, and is supported by a team of seasoned experts with extensive experience in legislative affairs.
The Government Relations Office provides comprehensive advisory services covering laws, regulations, notices, guidelines, policies, and authoritative interpretations issued by government ministries. It is jointly led by Partner Yong Ki CHO, a former Judge at the Seoul District Court and former Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Senior Advisor Choong Ryeol JEON, a former Secretary General of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and former Chair of the Board of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
The Office also includes experts with hands-on experience in policy implementation across various ministries, who deliver tailored strategies for businesses.
