DR & AJU and GuideStar Korea Co-hosted a Seminar on Public Interest Corporations’ Duty under the Tax Law
On March 15, 2024, DR & AJU TAX. Co. and GuideStar Korea co-hosted a seminar on the duty of public interest corporations under the tax law in DR & AJU’s conference room.
The purpose of this seminar was to support public interest corporations as they typically have limited access to expert counsel on tax laws. It aimed to prevent them from paying additional tax or facing disadvantages from tax authorities due to lack of knowledge.
Although the seminar was held in the busy season with upcoming corporate tax reporting deadlines, it attracted over 80 attendees.
Ju Seok KIM, a renowned tax accountant specializing in inheritance and gift taxes, was the key presenter in the seminar.
The seminar comprised two sessions that covered (i) the obligations public interest corporations must comply with, including updates on tax laws and recent tax issues, and (ii) examples of taxation, such as investigations on public interest corporations, followed by a Q&A session. Mr. Kim also presented ten compliance obligations and eleven requirements that must be adhered to by public interest corporations. Additionally, he introduced useful supportive systems, such as the National Tax Service’s program that offers prior consultation on whether an individual falls under the scope of specially related persons for public interest corporations.
This was the first time DR & AJU hosted a seminar on the "Public Interest Corporations’ Duty under the Tax Law," and limited the number of participants to 50 public interest corporations. As applications for the seminar were closed early, DR & AJU will expand the seminar to 100 corporations next year.
